- Look for circumstances that set this case apart from otherwise similar cases.
- Identify the key questions.
- Answer these key questions or speculate about possible answers.
- Identify specific criteria that are relevant to the case.
- Are there any obligations?
- What ideals are involved?
- What are the consequences of the case?
- Considering the answers to these questions, where should the emphasis lie?
- Determine all possible choices of action that are available, or were available.
- Decide which action is most ethical.
